3.1 PHILLIP LIM: Phillip Lim’s Spring 2010 collection started out red, with both the runway and the first looks all sporting the bright hue. Soon, he switched to a more neutral palette. With a selection of finely tuned details like embellished belts, sequined panels and soft knife pleats, there was definitely something for everyone. Dresses came with leather panels and ivory lace, tops and shorts came with a smattering of sequins and his sunglasses came with crystals. Our favorite? The silver sequined shirt dress above.
ANNA SUI: Anna Sui happens to be one of our favorites here and her Spring 2010 collection definitely didn’t disappoint. Sui described the collection as a “mod circus” (apparently circuses are a recurring theme this Spring). As always, there was a lot of mixing and matching with the prints (this season, featuring animals and apples). Sui is definitely a master at making colors work with each other, not against. We also loved the flowered halos that many models wore around their heads.
MILLY: The Spring 2010 collection for Milly had a “punk meets prep” theme; designer Michelle Smith saying that she based her entire collection around the color black. Schoolgirl-style blazers looked more severe when matched with a side pony with a massive bow. Each model was also weighed down with oversized, gold hardware necklaces which were part of the debut of Milly’s new costume jewelry collection. Even with all her thoughts revolving around the darker side of things, Smith couldn’t help but throw in one gorgeous, Pucci-inspired mini dress (above).
OSCAR DE LA RENTA: When you look at these pictures of Oscar De La Renta’s Spring 2010 collection, it’s not hard to feel what Rachel Zoe feels when she sees THE piece. Everything about his collection was gorgeous and glamorous, but plenty of pieces looked like they could be worn day through night. From safari shorts to sheer blouses to cropped pants, the clothes were young but elegant while the accessories, from sunglasses to belts, were all spot on. For the record, we can totally see a starlet like Kate Hudson rocking the sequined dress, above.
PROENZA SCHOULER: The designers behind Proenza Schouler, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, said that their Spring 2010 collection was inspired by their youth and their roots in surfing and skating. This resulted in a collection full of ocean-inspired colors, tie dye, cool sunglasses and hair in shades of green and purple. Dresses had feathered fringes and bra-cup bodices, tops came in neon brights, shoes were wedge heeled sandals. Everything had a too-cool-for-school edge about it and we loved it.
